Split transactions intermittently not transferring right
Logan Benjamin
I track my paycheck deductions in YNAB, I have multiple categories in my paycheck transactions. What has happened once is that it in the all transactions in the month of February page, it shows my tax category being duplicated. However, when I got to the income v expenses page, it’s the net income that got duplicated. The ynab transaction is accurate. This has only happened to me once but it throws off my stats. I wish there was a way to delete a transaction so I could just get rid of the mistake myself.
Lumy Support
Logan Benjamin I think I know the issue. If the paycheck transaction is scheduled as a recurring transaction, there's an issue with the YNAB API where these transactions will be duplicated until they've been matched. Here's a quote from YNAB support:
> Generally, it is not expected that pending transactions will show up at all in the API because they are not synced down. We have updated the endpoint description in our API documentation to make this more clear. For example, the GET transactions endpoint now states that it "Returns budget transactions, excluding any pending transactions." However, there is one exception. When a pending transaction matches with a user-entered transaction, you will see a temporary pending transaction labeled with a "P" in the import_id field (as you suspected, that does indicate a pending transaction!). So here's where things get a little funky. After the matching cleared transaction imports, YNAB then rejects the pending match and replaces the matched transaction with the cleared match. This deletes the matched pending transaction, which is why those transactions are automatically cleared out after some time. This is on our developer's radar, but because of the system currently in place and the limitations of the API, we don't have a workaround or exact definition of the lifecycle of pending transactions to offer at this time.
I think I can work around this by just never showing pending transactions in Lumy. In the meantime, if you run into something like this again, you can always do the following:
Navigate to
Settings
, then tap Dark Mode
10 times to unlock Debug mode. Enter the Debug
screen (scroll down on Settings to see the tile), and then scroll all the way down to Delete all transaction data
and tap that twice. Once complete, go back to the Home screen and pull down to refresh. This will fully clear all YNAB data and reset it so you start from a "clean slate" without any duplicates. It does not
delete any Lumy data.
